LDS Positions
Buffalo Grove Illinois Stake Center
"Wherefore, now let every man learn his duty, and to act in the office in which he is appointed, in all diligence." D&C 107:99
What are the Scouting responsibilities for LDS callings? The answer is complex because there are several key factors that affect the correlation between the LDS Positions and Scouting Positions necessary to provide a quality program for the young men eight to eighteen in the wards and stake.
LDS Scouting position descriptions are intended only as an initial guide.
The purpose: At the time when a new leader is given a calling in the Scouting organization by the ward bishop, these one-two page information sheets can provide a basic understanding of the nature of the call, and enable that person to become effective more quickly.
The FIRST job is --- TO ENSURE THAT LEADERS ARE TRAINED!
FAST START--immediately through the ward, stake, district, council or on-line
BASIC TRAINED--within two weeks
ADVANCED--later when you can.
Original Guidebooks can be downloaded from Mormon Scouting. The position descriptions attached here were modified for the Scout Units and Wards in northern Illinois. From the web site the Aaronic Priesthood and Scouting Startup Guidebooks provide Job Descriptions and Support Information LDS/BSA by David L.
